Why would I choose a lower resolution?
We added the option to take photos and video
at lower than maximum resolution because the
Zire 72 is more than a PDA with a camera. It
can send photos and video by email or MMS.
You might want to shoot at a lower
resolution because:
- Lower resolution images take up less
room (smaller filesize), so you can take
more photos
- Smaller filesize means faster
transfer when mailing or sending via MMS
- Smaller images process more quickly,
so there's a shorter delay between when
you press the Capture button and when
the image is recorded.
If you intend to view your photos only on
your handheld screen, on a web page, or in
an MMS message, then there's very little
benefit to taking them at higher resolution.
* CMOS vs. CCD: There are two
types of sensors used in digital cameras,
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS)
and Charge Coupled Device (CCD). CMOS
sensors consume less power than a CCD, which
extends battery life on your handheld.
